International Staff Training Week 2019

About the Event
The International Staff Week will have a relaxed and informal atmosphere for attendees to interact with colleagues from other universities, share best practices, discuss current challenges facing internationalization in higher education (HE). Simultaneously, besides strengthening ties with their international counterparts, they will enhance their knowledge and competencies.
Format
This event has been structured to include a different meeting and presentation formats such as Key Presentations, Guest Speakers, Workshops for sharing best practices, Exhibition of Partner Universities, World Café Fair, Workgroups to increase networking opportunities and stimulate discussion among participants. The ISW will take place in 3 different faculties of Universidade de Lisboa, the engineering school (Técnico Lisboa), the humanities school (School of Arts and Humanities) and the sciences school (Faculty of Sciences).
Included in the programme is a World Café held at the Technology Campus of Oeiras, Taguspark, on Wednesday, October 9th as well as an Exhibition of International Partners held at the Alameda Campus on October 10th. These events will provide participants with an opportunity to showcase to the entire academic community different mobility opportunities abroad. Participants have the unique opportunity to promote their institutions and innovative programmes in person to Tecnico’s students, teachers, managers and other staff. Availability is limited. Interested participants should register for the Staff Week ASAP and indicate they would like to participate in the IDAY World café and Partner Exhibition and have a booth (table, chair and posterboard) for their University (limited to international partner institutions).
Objectives
- Gain insight on the processes and experience in enhancing Higher Education internationalization
- Promote the home Institution in 2 different events: the World Café and International Day, with particular emphasis on the academic offer, research and other collaborative opportunities
- Create a Forum for discussion of Best Practices and the Exchange of information in key areas
- Gain exposure, experience and increase international insight
- Explore networking opportunities and become acquainted with counterparts through informal job-shadowing meetings
- Participate in dynamic workshops within different colleagues from other international institutions
Minimum Number of Participants
A minimum of 10 participants is required for the staff training week to be carried out. Please, forward this invitation to the staff members who might be interested in joining us for this event and sharing knowledge, experience and best practices.

Registration
Interested participants are requested to complete the online registration .
The final application deadline is 15 September 2019 but discounts are available for early and advanced birds.
Neither travel nor accommodation, or meals not mentioned in the programme is included. Each participant should find the necessary funding to cover the additional expenses.
International relations professionals working in higher education institutions can apply for Erasmus Staff Training Mobility grants to take part in this Staff Training Week. We advise you to contact your home institution’s institutional Erasmus coordinator and ask if Erasmus funding is available for staff training.

Accommodation
Lisbon is a great value destination in general, but accommodation and flights should always be booked well in advance. This year and in October in particular, Lisbon is the destination of major events which will increase the hotel rates. The accommodation proposed, which is around Técnico Lisboa, and the availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis. In addition, there are many Airbnb apartments available at very reasonable prices. Overall, accommodation in Lisbon is of very good quality.
